## Nebulized Glutathione

## What is Nebulized Glutathione?

The Naturopathic Doctors at our clinic have exclusively been using Glutathione for years with their patients.

It is a naturally occurring compound produced in most cells in the body and is composed of 3 amino acids (Cysteine, Glycine and Glutamate). Because it is an antioxidant, it is used in a wide variety of treatments. Glutathione can be administered it in multiple ways - from oral ingestion (liposomal form), intravenously and lastly nebulized which allows for direct administration to the respiratory tract including the lungs (for asthmatics)

## How does glutathione help with respiratory disorders?

In respiratory disorders, nebulized Glutathione has shown to be effective for:

## What exactly happens during a nebulized treatment?

The treatment duration is about 10 and 15 minutes. To nebulize glutathione a nebulizer machine is used which consists of wearing a mask over your mouth and then you proceed to take in slow, deep breaths. Because glutathione is a sulphur product, there is a mild sulphurous smell.

For those with severe cases, 2 – 3 treatments per week for 4 weeks is sufficient to improve respiratory function. At this point the dosing is decreased to 1 treatment per week for 3-4 weeks. Milder cases typically require fewer treatments per week.
