## IV THERAPY

## What is IV Therapy ?

Intravenous Therapy (IV) consists of a safe combination of vitamins, minerals and amino acids which are tailored to your individual needs. These key nutrients are delivered directly into your bloodstream bypassing your digestive system which allows for greater absorption and utilization of nutrients.

Based on your individual need Dr. Taylor Bean or Dr. Clatyon Bostock ND will formulate a variation of the Myers cocktail with a combination of vitamins and minerals with a range of B vitamins such as Methylfolate, Methylcobalamin, B6, B5, B3, along with a variety of minerals and specific amino acids.

The main advantage of IV therapy is that it bypasses the absorption required in the digestive tract. Through the use of IV therapy the nutrients are taken up or rather absorbed much more quickly than if it had been taken oral.

## How can IV therapy be supportive to you?

IV Therapy allows us to help patients address concerns of vitamin deficiencies from diarrhea to dehydration, or for healthy patients who are looking to optimize their health leading into cold and flu season, an upcoming flight or event or simply want a boost of energy and an overall feeling of wellness.

## What to expect before your first IV treatment

Your Naturopathic Doctor will require at least a 30min initial intake to review your health history to determine what type of IV is best for you. In addition, it is requested that you have updated laboratory work done at least 6-8 weeks before doing any IV. Each of the requested labs can indicate you have current deficiencies or indicate if an IV isn't appropriate for you. In addition, your current laboratory values indicate if you should wait to have an IV and focus on nutritional support instead.

These laboratory tests include:

- G6PD: for anyone who will receive more than 10g of Vitamin C
- CBC + differential
- Kidney function: GFR, creatinine
- Electrolytes: Calcium, sodium, Chloride, magnesium
